Packaged Units
Packaged Units are typically located outside a home and are self-contained. They are usually mounted on the ground or roof and ducted into the house itself. The system is used for heating and cooling more than one room (or single larger area). These units recieve their name
due to the fact they house all of their components - compressor, condenser, expansion valve, etc. in a single box.
Today you can find different packaged units available
- Air conditioners.
- Gas furnaces and air conditioners
- Heat pumps
- Hybrid heat units
Packaged units are high powered and can easily heat or cool multiple rooms or larger spaces. This unit typically takes up less space and is easier to repair because all of the
components are contained within the single house. These components are designed to minimize energy usage, thereby enhancing cost effectiveness and energy efficiency.
Like stand alone furnaces, air conditioners and heat pump packaged units carry Season Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER), Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) ratings; the higher the rating, the more energy efficient the unit is,
making it even easier to determine the potential cost-effectiveness of each unit.
